RAFFLE RESULTS 22 AUGUST What a nice couple of days we are having. Saturday’s golf was played in very pleasant conditions, with the sun gradually coming out mid-morning, followed by an afternoon that finally gave us one of the sunsets we can boast about in Safety Beach. I sit typing on a Sunday morning that is even better. Our numbers showed that some of our holiday-makers are gradually returning, particularly in the afternoon, and the raffle indicated that extra volume of activity. First prize of a Cliffex meat tray was won by Brian Munn. This was not only prize he won because an award for being the biggest club lunatic was awarded to him in recognition of him being the biggest club lunatic. When I see that bottom lip and chin I just can’t get it out of my mind that he is home-growing a paint brush. Second Cliffex meat tray was won by John Pinder. This is John’s first win as far as I can remember, and as always I say that it’s good that new winners can get their share after being loyal ticket purchasers. The same goes for Geoff Hamill who won the Crown Lager six-pack. With the extra numbers I was able to conduct a bit of a survey to enable me to work out the percentages of young and younger members when compared to old and older members. To look at handsome kids like Jay de Virgilio and Matt Lever, then older kids in Steve Connors, John Buckley and Dave Bryan, and start comparing them to our head-shaved members  in Matt Herrick, Munnzie and co. it starts to show that the vast majority of male members have one significant thing about them that stands out. They have various stages of baldness (this does not apply to lady members) and significant stages of colour. What stands out most of all within this golf club is that we have FIFTY STAGES OF GREY! Beware of dark corners! Before it gets too late, another of Shane’s Legendary Steak Nights will be held on Friday 28 August, starting at 6.30 p.m. Regular attendees of these nights will tell you about the excellence of the fare available. Fillet (or do you prefer Filet?) Steaks Mignon, great Rib Roasts, pastas and salads start the evening, and entertainment will be provided by Mike the Music Man. Come along and dance the night away, all for $25 a head. Drinks at bar prices. Early bookings are essential. Call 5981 0100 or 5981 0120.
