Raffle & Norm`s Ramblings

A good week for Ted Young after celebrating his 87th birthday last weekend. First of all he won a Cliffex meat tray on the Saturday night, then followed up with a winning 40 points in the Wednesday pro-comp. Not only that, he forced the Bandit to admit that Ted was a far better golfer than he was. The mid-week money source has now dried up for the Bandit, and rumour has it that he will now undertake a series of interstate trips to prepare him for the forthcoming battle to regain his status. The Greasy Armpits Motor Cycle Club is currently installing special equipment to be ready for the Bandit’s next excursion to the Sunshine State.

Yesterday was dark and gloomy, with players either too worried about whether rain would fall, or maybe not showing up because of football commitments. Halfway through I was only seeing break-even sales for the raffle, and with the forecast of rain coming in around mid-afternoon I could feel a trembling feeling in my bones. We had a couple of raffle winners whose names don’t often appear in this section. First meat tray was won by Robin Hicks. I think he probably won because I spelled his name correctly. In my usual haste I have often written “Robyn” which most people know is a girl’s name. Of course Robin is not a girl, and this time I assured him that my spelling was 100 per cent correct. The result was another of those strange coincidences that crop up. Second meat tray was won by Glenn Lazzar, who flew in specially from Perth to buy a raffle ticket. On being presented with the prize he promptly passed it on to Tenille Munn, who is looking absolutely gorgeous in her pregnancy. I have asked her if she has a son to call him Norman, but I’m not sure if she heard me. At the time Munzie had stuck his fingers in her ears because Matt Herrick was saying evil things to me. The Crown Lager six-pack was won by Ben Nancarrow.

An interesting item of news this week with the police statement about the theft of a van full of viagra stolen from outside a Sorrento pharmacy. Police are seeking a group of hardened criminals. At the same time it was also announced that police had arrested two young boys. One was drinking battery acid and the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off.
