First Saturday of the new year, and even though numbers of players were down slightly the numbers late in the day were excellent. Maybe it looked better than we thought because a wedding took place out on the practice green, but the majority of guests from that event disappeared off to a reception being held somewhere local. So we had plenty of players, quite a number of wives, partners and lady friends, the di Virgilio parents (nice to meet them), and Di diddly i di Corrado taking on behind the bar duties. We have terrific people in this club, and don’t any of you forget it! I sold John Pinder his usual one ticket raffle expenditure for the week, stating that I was writing his name back to front as “Pin Johnder” and how it would bring him luck. Well, it did, because he won the first monthly medal for the year. Well, that’s not a raffle prize, but I would bet that he enjoyed it just as much.
Cliffex meat trays were won by Matt Herrick and Jason Williams, and the six-pack of Crown Lager was won by Bob Cleary. Just for the sake of a new year prize, we put up a 308g box of Lindt Lindor chocolate balls which was won by Tony Lever. Happy New year to all readers of this section.
