Our Monthly Medal day on Tuesday 3rd May was cancelled due to the very strong winds. This event has been re-scheduled for next week.
The Handicap Match Play team played Berwick/Montuna at Moonah Links on Friday 3rd May and they squared the match. Lyn Greer & Penny McCarthy had good wins while Kim Reynolds squared her match. Well done also to Cathy Roussis & Denise Marmion who were the other members of our team, a great first result!
Next week the team plays The Dunes on Thursday 12th at The National. Good luck ladies!

With two weeks of Foursomes coming up there are plenty of golfers like me who don’t want to take part in this competition. On Saturday night, 7 May, the Club Captain Brian Munn announced that a Stableford competition would be available for those who wish to avoid playing Foursomes, so it will be necessary for all players to contact the pro shop and inform Shane Johnson of their preference for each of the next two weeks if you wish to play the alternative competition. This is not a joke.
With that off my chest, let’s continue with other things, like the raffle. The Williams name came up for one of its regular exposures, with Jason’s name out first to take a Cliffex meat tray. I’m getting a bit tired of feeding this family. You’d think my wife and I would be invited to share the spoils as a reward for our part in their increasing run of successes. You know! Dinner with wine and all the trimmings like port, muscat, cream sponges, trifle and chocolate mousse. But no. It’s always the same. Barby get-togethers with the de Corrados, the Andersons and all their neighbours, carousing into the wee small hours, while my little home vibrates with their excessive noise from up the road, and the silly dog next door barks his stupid head off! Anyway, with that also off my chest, let’s turn to the second meat tray winner: June Roach. Lovely June has that very nice flair about her, that when something nice happens, she is completely unaware. It’s a slightly dreamy sort of experience of something like “Oh! Did I win! Or was it John’s ticket?” John just sits in the background, because the cunning devil has left the ticket purchase to June, even though his own purchase is in place to add mystery to how June’s ticket would be the successful one. Oh yes. it is my solemn duty to inform you that for the second week in succession Matt Herrick has won the Crown Lager six-pack. No doubt he will be immersing himself in a beer bath in the near future.
