Raffle & Norm`s Ramblings

Here we go again. Another belt of rain during the last week saw 25 mm fall in the 48 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on 25 June. Needless to say, viewing the course from my vantage point this morning I saw a total of seven players go through in their endeavours to achieve a good score. With all the water they had to slop through I would think each of them ended up with rotten socks and soggy golf shoes. I hope so, anyway. I don’t think seven players makes a raffle worthwhile under the conditions, so for the third week in a row we didn’t go ahead with it. Sorry!

What I propose for next week, in the case of rain again, is that the raffle will be conducted at my address. I have discussed with the Bandit a few ideas, and he has agreed to run a class for members who wish to learn his methods of handicap and playing success. Also, he will be organising a bunch of his friends from the Greasy Armpits Motor Cycle Club to be present to run Harley Davidson rides up and down Country Club Drive. We will be having carpet bowls in the lounge room and shuttlecock across the back fence. For those who prefer badminton we’ll usher you to the freeway fence where you can shout abuse to the noisy cars screaming past. We will cater for the children with a jumping castle in our main bedroom, and out on the back deck John Roach will provide music for dancing, and give details about his detailing. He may also provide hints for unusual graffiti images to those inclined. It’s sort of a leaning he has! Everyone attending will be presented with a Caramello Koala, and as is usual with the raffle everybody will be expected to pay $5 for three tickets. Pick up and pay for your BYO drinks at the golf club, and don’t forget that I may get a little thirsty as the day goes on. If you’re coming, let’s know and we’ll make sure we have enough party pies, cheese and bickies to go around. Cheers.
