A perfect day for golf, a bit cool at the start but once the sun arrived it was lovely to be on course again. Only 26 competitors, with 24 ladies & 2 men (David Mair & Neil Fredricson) to play the 2 Person Ambrose (with a twist) event on the Par 3 course. After feedback from players on the today I can confirm we will not play this format again! There were only 4 in the 9-hole event & all players gave up on the format on the 1st hole but continued to play a ‘friendly’ round of golf so no competition results for them.
Sorry ladies but thought a different format was worth a try, I know our group had lots of laughs but happy to concede this was not an enjoyable format to play.
On completion of golf, we welcomed Lexi Louziotis who started at the Valley this week as Business Development Manager. Lexi joins us from Moonah Links & will be responsible for marketing of golf, events & promoting the business plus aiming to increase memberships.
Results for the day are below:

Remember to book by Sunday night for next Tuesday 3rd August when the format is Stableford for all players & Monthly Medal for the 18-hole players. The seeded draw for all players will be emailed to everyone on Monday.
Note: The Par 3 Championships (for 9 & 18-hole players) will be held on 3 consecutive Tuesdays commencing from the 10th August. The format will be Stableford, Par & Stroke and there will be 1 champion for both the 9 & 18-hole events i.e. no grades for 18 holes. The 9-hole ladies will play the back 9 for the 2nd round on the 17th August when the 18-hole players will start from the 10th tee.
Etiquette while putting. Just a reminder to all players that you should:
- Quickly mark your ball.
- Play in turn, unless waiting for other players to arrive on the green.
- Not stand behind a player while they are putting.
- Not leave your shadow on their putting line or stand on their line, unless the player says she is happy for you to ‘stand easy’.
- Finish putting your ball if this does not interfere with other players.
Pitch repairers. A warning to all players that I plan to do a random check that all players have a pitch repairer on them when they arrive on the 1st tee. If you do not have one, a gold coin donation will be required. If you do not own one or do not know how to use one please let me know ASAP. Whenever you play, please repair pitch marks on the green even if it is not yours. Also ensure you have a sand bucket to fill in divots on the fairway.
The Ladies Committee recently approved the purchase of new ball markers (some with the magnet & some without) plus pitch repairers with ball markers showing the Valley logo. These should arrive in about 3 weeks & will most likely remain at a cost of $5.
Name Badges. If any ladies would like a name badge with a magnet backing please advise Linda ASAP as a group order will reduce the cost. These additional badges will be a your cost though if you order 1.
Take care & stay safe.
