Ladies Golf Results – Tuesday 15th March 2022

4BBB Stableford – 1st Round Club Champs.

The day started with a few heavy showers & very humid  then the sun made it very warm for the 50 ladies (32*18 hole players & 18*9 hole players) who competed in the 1st round of the 4BBB Stableford Club Championship events on Tuesday. There were also 2 ladies without partners who had a social hit & helped score cards, thanks ladies.

It seems there was some confusion again about whether to play from the red blocks or plates. As per the board in the change room, ALL players were to tee off from the plates regardless of where the blocks were located on Tuesday as it was a Championship event.

Another very good rules discussion with the following queries answered:

Q1: What happens when your ball lands on the 5th green when you have hit from the 6th tee? A: Mark the position of the ball (a tee can be used for this) then drop the ball off the green at the nearest point of relief but no nearer the 6th hole. There is no penalty.

Q2: What happens if your ball lands on a bare patch on the fairway? A: Mark the position of your ball & you may take free relief at the nearest point no closer to the hole. This also applies to cracks, vehicle track marks & sand but ONLY ON THE FAIRWAY. Note: This is a local rule (Abnormal Ground Condition) so it may not apply at other clubs. FYI, these are also on the notice board in the change rooms.

Q3: What happens if your ball lands in the fairway & stops in the pitch mark of another player? A: Play the ball as it lies unfortunately, a free drop can only be taken if the pitch mark is created by your ball. This actually happened to Paul Casey in The Players PGA event yesterday.

If you have any questions or queries about rules that you want clarified next week, please email me before next Tuesday 22nd.

Remember to book for golf next Tuesday 22nd  March by Friday night (18th) or you will not be in the draw. Please note that it is the 2nd round of the 4BBB Stableford Club Championships so ensure you book with the same partner if you paid to play both weeks. It is still possible to play in the day competition if you did not play this week providing you can find a partner. The 9-hole ladies will play the back 9 next week meaning the 18-hole ladies will start from the 8th or 10th tees. Please allow extra time so you are at the designated tee on time.

The draw will be emailed on Saturday morning & will also be reflected in One Golf.

Take care & stay safe.
