A very cool Spring morning greeted the ladies today for the fun team game of Stableford Split 6 for the 18 hole players and Stableford Split 3 for the 9 hole players. This has an element of ‘sorry partner’ as with Foursomes because the score for 2 players is counted meaning both need to score well! The scoring works as follows: On the first 3 or 6 holes the best score of the 2 players is recorded, the next 3 or 6 holes the scores for both players are added together and the final 3 or 6 is the tough one as the scores for each player are multiplied. Where a hole is wiped by one player but not the other, this is where the ‘sorry partner’ comes in! Most ladies seemed to enjoy the format but not all the calculations required! It was a pleasant surprise to find the course was in very good condition considering what it has had to ensure during the Winter months. Most fairways were in excellent condition and as always the greens were fast & true so Damon and his team have done an incredible job. Results for the day are below:
18 Hole Players – Winners: Pam Scholtz (35) & Colleen Blackmore (28) 40 Points, Runners Up: Barbara Sargent (32) & Viv Goodson (35) 38 Points. Apologies from the Lady Captain who did not check that all the cards had been handed in and found whilst announcing the winners that there were 2 missing cards with incredible scores of 44 & 48. Sorry to those ladies, in future a thorough check will be made to ensure there is not a repeat of this embarrassing situation! Another apology for providing incorrect Conditions of Play on the notice board i.e. temporary tee on the 5th hole. Please note for the future though that all players should know to always tee off from where the red blocks are positioned on a Competition Day. Unfortunately, as Shane our Professional was away due to an awful overnight bout of gastro there was no time to check the course in the morning as all those who were due to attend the golf clinics in the morning and afternoon had to be contacted to advise they were cancelled.
9 Hole Players – Winners: Joan Davies (40) & Gerri Robson (41) 24 Points on count back from Runners Up: Lee Grubb (44) & Judy Ireland (45) also with 24 points. Great scoring ladies!
NTP’S – 6th Hole: Linda Fredricson, 12th Hole: Nobody!
Good Luck to the Ladies Midweek Matchplay team who are playing at Rosebud on Thursday 26th September against Portsea. Next week is Stroke and counting putts with the 18 hole ladies also competing for the October Monthly Medal.
GO TIGERS & STORM in the footy this weekend!
