Ladies Golf Results – Tuesday 25th February 2020

It was great to see 50 colourful ladies on course today representing the Captain’s Team (Blue) or President’s Team (Pink) while competing in the Par event for the annual Duck Trophy. A great turn out on a very calm, mild & humid day, very good conditions for golf. It was fantastic to see Enid Hamilton back playing golf and 2 of our new lady members (Lina Battisti & Jackie Mazoletti) out there as well. The course is in great condition in preparation for the Pro Am on Saturday with the greens noticeably faster. As you will see below there were some great scores on the day and the team event was extremely close this year. Results for the day:

18 Hole Players – B Grade Winner: Colleen Blackmore (30) 1 Up, Runner Up: Barbara Bright (18) Square. C Grade Winner: Gerri Robson (45) 2 Up, Runner Up: Cathy Roussis (39) 1 Up. Great scores all round so well done to all players!

9 Hole Players – Winner: Diane Tullberg (41) 1 Down on count back from Runner Up: Pat Webster (45) who beat Enid Hamilton on count back for second. A great tussle ladies, congratulations to you all!

NTP’s – 8th Hole: Lynn Gray, 13th Hole: Gerri Robson.

Pro Balls – 18 Hole Players: Deb Sein, Lynn Gray, Jodi Crago, Sue O’Connor, Anita Powell & Pam Scholtz. 9 Hole Players: Enid Hamilton, Susan Driver, Glenn Barber, Ros Champion & Kay Sims.

Team Results – President’s Team: 9 Holers: 47 Down, 18 Holers: 67 Down, Total: 114 Down. Captain’s Team: 9 Holers: 48 Down, 18 Holers: 63 Down, Total: 111 Down.  The Captain’s Team therefore wins the trophy for 2020 by 3 strokes, very close! Thanks to Lee Grubb and team for the photos below.

All lady members who knew Denise Marmion were very sad to hear that Denise lost her battle with cancer on Sunday 23rd February. Denise was a keen golfer and lovely lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts are with Denise’s family at this sad time.

On a happier note Safety Beach ladies did well at the Bay Views Challenge Cup on Monday 24th February. We were represented by 3 teams with 1 team missing out on the ball run down on count back, Kim Reynolds winning a NTP prize, Barbara Bright winning the longest drive (beating an unhappy Cathy Roussis in the process!) and Cheryl Westcott winning a raffle prize. Well done to all ladies.

The Safety Beach Ladies Pennant Team squared their match with Cape Schanck at Cerberus last week, a super first up effort. Barbara Bright, Colleen Warfield & Jean Halre all had great wins while Jodi Crago squared her match. The ladies play The Dunes at Portsea on Friday 28th, good luck team!

Hope to see you all at the Pro Am on Saturday for a great day.
