Ladies Golf Results – Tuesday 8th January 2019

A very pleasant morning greeted the players today for the Opening Day of ladies golf for 2019. The event format was a 9-hole 4 Person Drop Out Ambrose with some teams of 3 playing standard Ambrose but all teams had to follow Linda’s crazy rules for the day! These included hitting blindfold from the 4th tee, using mini golf putters & driving left handed when right handed and vice versa. It seems that hitting blindfold from the tee suited Gerri Robson who set up her team for birdie with a very good shot! Results for the day are below:

Winners: Kath Dobson (45) Joan Coombs (36) Gerri Robson (45) &Judith Whittaker (30) Nett 28.5, Runners Up: Kim Reynolds (33) Cheryl Westcott (36) Joan Spence (25) & Helen Short (45) Nett 31.375, Third: Michele Cooke (22) Ros Champion (45) Viv Goodson (31) & Jeanette Bourke (39) Nett 33.5. An Encouragement Award was presented to the team of Marg Carroll, Judith Hunter & Pat Tindal who started with 4 players but Jean Harle had to leave after 1 hole as Doug had a fall at home. Our best wishes to you both, we hope Doug recovers quickly.

NTP’s – 4th Hole: Gerri Robson, 8th Hole: Milica Cole.

We officially welcomed 2 new lady members today, both recently joined the club – Ros Frame from The Dunes & Michele Cooke from Morack. The Ladies Committee agreed to introduce a Summer Cup for the 9-hole players (Linda showed all resent the Trophy purchased for this event) in the same format as the 18-hole players i.e. Handicap Match Play. Also on Presentation Day at the end of the year, there will be prizes for the best 4 rounds of Stroke, Putting, Stableford & Par as well as the most Birdies & Ferrets achieved to add to the Eclectic prize already in place.

The event next week is Stroke & Putting for all players and this doubles as the qualifying event for the Summer Cup (9 & 18 hole players) and Monthly Medal plus the first round of the Silver Spoon for the 18-hole ladies. The draw for both events will be emailed out this week.
