GRAND FINAL RAFFLE

Sorry. I stayed home and watched the footy after having lunch out on the deck, sharing a bottle of bubbly with the wife, and provided our own pre-game entertainment watching the lorikeets arguing the point over the available space on our feeder, together with a couple of wattle birds who kept trying to get a drink for their young ones. Hopefully the weather will be O.K. next week for the usual party pies, sausage rolls, cheese and bickies and cocktail frankfurts, plus the raffle, of course. By then Munzie will have settled down, together with those very few other club individuals who support the Doggies. I see the football club will be taking orders for individuals to have their photographs taken alongside the premiership cup. Cost of $150 will get you a printed record of the big occasion. I can get a photograph of any club member standing beside the Bandit, and it won’t cost a cent. He might even give you a golf ball with a mask logo printed on it.

“POSTIE” FASHION SHOW

O.K. you ladies living in the Safety Beach/Dromana/Mt Martha/Rosebud area. The Safety Beach Country Club ladies will be having a “Postie” Fashion Show at the club headquarters,10 Country Club Drive on Friday 21 October starting at 2 p.m. Admission tickets will cost $10, and entitle each ticket holder to a Devonshire Tea and a Lucky Spot prize. Raffle tickets will be available, and a special “Postie” prize will be available at half-price. Call Barbara on 0419 597 532 or Jean on 5981 9220. Tickets are selling quickly, so we advise an early call to ensure your attendance.

A tale of 3 Bulldogs supporters –

It certainly was a big day for Bulldogs Supporters,  let me share their stories.

We will start with DQ,  a very keen Bulldog, who also spends some time supervising the Safety Beach Golf Course. DQ had never been to a grand final, let alone one in which the bullies participated. When he managed to get hold of 4 tickets on Thursday afternoon, the celebrations had to be seen to Be believed. Being his first GF, DQ headed off early to take in the entertainment the MCG surrounds provide. At the time of writing DQ has not arrived home, and is believed to be heading for further celebrations at the Whitten Oval.

PJ is an older bullies supporter, who has endured a number of losing Preliminary finals, and was not keen to grow through further pain, so played golf at his normal time. On the 3rd hole he received a phone call to say a relative had taken ill, and could not use their GF ticket. PJ was witnessing a potential course record by DM, but by the 7th Hole, he abandoned golf and headed off to the” G”

All the losing prelim finals were forgotten as the Bullies stormed home.

BM decided to stay at the clubrooms and co-ordinate a big day, by the end of the day the excitement was such that BM purchased bottles of champagne, having remembered he did not like Champagne, so proceeded to tip the bottle over himself, and any one else nearby.

It was a big day.
